It's official...we had our first named
hurricane in the Atlantic Ocean and her
name was Bertha! The good news is that
she was pretty benign and caused no harm.
So are you ready for a hurricane of consequence?
Most of you are prepared and have
your home inventory safe and secure.
Right? Isn't it comforting to know that you
are ready for whatever comes?
If you aren't ready, here are some tips
for completing a"just in time" inventory,
so that you have something if you have to
evacuate in a hurry.
If you have a video
camera, go room to room. From the middle
of the room aim the camera at the ceiling
and slowly spiral down, panning around
the room. Include the fixtures on the ceiling,
walls and floors and open the drawers
and closets. If you don't have a video camera,
you can take your digital camera and
take a lot of shots of each room from all
angles. Then take individual photos of each
of your precious items, from different
angles. Again, open drawers and closets
and snap away! Scan all receipts you
have, especially for your expensive and
unique items.
Now that you have captured
all this digital data, you need to store
it in a safe and secure place out of harm's
way, either in an online inventory database
application, on DVDs in your safety
deposit box or at a friend's house in another
state, or on a thumb drive on your
key ring!
