Make Sure You Know What Is Where
When you own more than one residence, it's easy to forget where you have what. The Rothko painting is in Scottsdale, the Giacometti sculpture is in Ft. Lauderdale...
OK, maybe you don't have a multi-million dollar art collection to manage (or maybe you do!), but if you're like most second home owners, you often shift belongings from one home to another. Inevitably, you're going to lose track of something. For your own clarity, it's a good idea to keep a home inventory. Once you have it set up, making changes is simple, and you'll never again be left with the nagging question of where your mother's china is stored. Also, if you open your second home to guests throughout the year, documenting the contents of your home(s) is the best way to protect yourself against damage or theft.
  • Maintain large inventories easily
  • Track changes in item location
  • Provide documentation in case of theft or damage
  • Eliminates "out of sight, out of mind"
