Anyone who has ever had the misfortune of going through a divorce will tell you that dividing up the marital property is a very difficult task both emotionally and logistically and when it's all over, there is usually some regret that you didn't get something that you wish you had gotten! To avoid this issue, why not start out the marriage with an inventory of what each spouse came into the marriage with, an inventory of the wedding gifts (including from whom) and any new purchases made to furnish the new marital dwelling! This is a great wedding gift to give the newlyweds or for the newlyweds to give to each other! If the wedding was a few years ago, it's never too late! If for whatever reason you find yourself needing to split up the marital property or you can't remember who gave you that fabulous vase, you have a comprehensive list to work from and you are not having to try to remember what you have as well as what is rightfully yours!
